Handcrafted Furniture, Small Hardwood Gift Items, Ceramics, Plants and Glass, Iron Works
Delancey Street is gaining a reputation for its finely worked hand crafted products. For close to four decades Delancey Street has developed its own bark planter products, which we have wholesaled along with retail sales. We design and hand craft sand paintings, terrariums, ceramics, small hardwood gift items, ironworks, bark planters and a wide variety of furniture made in the Taos style. These are produced completely by Delancey Street residents and are sold by residents to both wholesale and retail markets throughout the country.
These handcraft training schools not only build on the artistic strengths of our residents but also teach necessary work ethics and production skills. Due to the high level of production, residents become efficient at meeting projections based off last year's sales, keeping detailed records and accurate inventories, maintaining quality control, ordering supplies and scheduling and making deliveries. They learn how to work under pressure, particularly during our Christmas, Valentine's and Mother's Day seasons.
Wood Items and Custom Furniture
The Small Handcraft Wood Department in New Mexico produces items such as cardholders and cutting boards and jewelry boxes made from hardwoods such as maple, red and white oak, sycamore, hackberry, black walnut, ash and hickory using characteristics such as hardness, grain patterns and color. They learn every facet of milling rough lumber through fine product finishing and sell hundreds of such items retail annually. Handcrafted wood items are also produced at the Los Angeles, CA, Brewster, New York and Greensboro, North Carolina facilities.
The Custom Furniture Department in New Mexico hand crafts cabinets, doors, dining room sets and armoires from the finest ponderosa and sugar pine, along with using other woods such as oak, maple and walnut. The custom handcraft nature of our furniture enables the customer to choose from a variety of stain and oil finishes and varnishes as topcoats. Delancey Street New Mexico has developed a line of Delancey Street furniture that consists of a dining room set (four chairs and a table) and a bedroom set (dresser, high boy, two night stands and a bed). Our designs, as well as our methods of construction, are classic, derived from Taos, Santa Fe and traditional Spanish Colonial styles. Our furniture has been purchased for the Santa Fe Council Chambers and some of the fine small hotels and inns around the area.

Plants and Glass (Sand Sculptures)
Our New Mexico, Los Angeles, New York and North Carolina facilities produce about 25 different styles of sand painting bubbles including water, mountain and mesa scenes. The paintings are placed in 100 oz. and 70 oz brandy snifter glasses or 6 inch or 2 inch high and 8 inch wide bubbles. Every sand sculpture is poured by hand and residents dye sand in many different colors. The tools that are needed are generally hand made from spoons, sticks, etc. Our facilities also have greenhouses where residents learn horticulture skills, germinating seeds and caring for plants used in our retail products.

Bark Shop
The production of bark planters was one of the first training schools in our New Mexico facility and this shop now produces bark planters for orders from all other Delancey Street facilities. Delancey developed machines to sort bark and line the bark so that a rustic planter is created and able to hold all varieties of plants and flowers. These are wholesaled to nurseries and available through retail sales. The Bark Shop makes two sizes of bark planters. The smaller version is 6 inches in diameter and 8 inches deep and the larger version is 12 inches in diameter and 8 inches deep. The planters are filled with topsoil and delivered with 3 to 5 plants.
